Now that's a great idea for a spring compressor. Is it working out good?

it works well Jon, one needs to be careful or even use a strap to hold the action if nessecary.
you can do unset springs in this but you need a third hand and you gotta sneak up on it.
the clamps cost 15 bucks and the pipe was lying around in my truck so the price is right.

I found the same (or equivalent) pipe clamp for 9.99 at harbor freight. We all like cheap stuff, right?

Got mine at Big Lots for $5. I went to Horber Freight the other day, had heard so much about it and didn't realize we had one here in Charlotte, NC. Pretty cool place for cheap stuff.

I actually have 2 sets. One from home depot which costed the most, and the other from big lots but the one I got from big lots is yellow, has legs and is 7.00 instead of 5. I'm working on a way to modify the front clamp to take fixed barrel rifles. I figure I can cut a slot in the clamp and pad to accomodate the entire barrel assembly...

Yes I saw the yellow ones there as well. Just get a 48 inch pipe. I had to do that to use it for my B3's, works great.

Oh.. and make sure you get some 12 inch zip ties to hold the receiver to the pipe. After a few times of trying to hold the receiver, lining everything up and holding the socket I wised up. I hated the sound of the socket falling out and hitting the shop floor.
