View Full Version : Crosman Springers - Differences?
Do all the high powered Crosman springers (Quest, Storm, Sierra, Phantom) share the same powerplants and action dimensions, with the exception of some having sights and wooden stocks? Would stocks be interchangable among them all?
craigfperry 11-03-2008, 08:47 AM STORM XT, PHANTOM and G1 yes.
QUEST, SIERRA don't know.
brianag618 11-03-2008, 06:01 PM Need to check with Crosman, they say they are coming out with new Air Guns, but all they are doing is chris crossing them and changing their names, example the the G1 is nothing more then a dressed up version of the Phantom, and even though they sell parts, on their parts lists a lot of items are missing or missed named, I have to call them in the AM to get some spair parts that are not listed or missed named so as to get the correct items. Example, the Bolt/ Nut combo that holds the trigger assembly on place is listed as just a PIN, and the "U" shape plastic bushing to prevent damage from the cocking arm is not even listed. So that means and hour or so on line to get it correct. At least some of the parts look interchangeable with GAMOS, and I like the way Crosman trigger assembly is held in place as a single unit with a fixed piece of metal. Will be interesting to see how many small parts interchange with GAMO, that would be one way to get around there no sale of parts policy.
RCnMo 11-03-2008, 10:36 PM I would venture to guess that the crosman trigger assembly would drop into just about any GAMO. I haven't measured the parts with calipers, but they sure do look like they came off the same assembly line.
Now I'm wondering if most of the dimensions of the crosmans and gamos are just about the same or close enough. Like the gamo shadow series power plants and the crosmans. I wonder of some gamo stocks will fit the crosmans and vice versa, as long as you have the proper plastic end cap?
craigfperry 11-04-2008, 07:13 AM yes i think the shadow and 440 hunter are the same.
brianag618 11-06-2008, 01:48 AM Best part of the crosman trigger assembly is it is all one piece with the mounting bracket attached as a single unit which I think makes it lock into place better.
I found a Storm XT for sale and picked it up last night. I had the chance to tinker with it a bit. The powerplant is indeed the same, but the breech is different. The hole that the breech seal sits in is super deep and the breech seal is more of a spacer vs an o-ring. Surprisingly, this gun seems like it was machined and stamped much better as the parts are made much better than my G1. The piston is also a much tighter factory fit than the G1 and I didn't have to do very much deburring at all.
brianag618 11-13-2008, 05:21 PM RcnMo, I have a crosman trigger assembly coming from crosman to see how close to the GAMO mounting the crosman unit really is. Should have it some time next week and if it looks close I will try it and let you know
RCnMo 11-13-2008, 09:11 PM Thanks. That will be good info for most since GAMO won't sell parts unless you send them an arm and a leg.
timmyj1959 11-13-2008, 09:27 PM Jon,, ALL the Crossman springers I have had were pretty much the same,,, I have changed stocks around on many of them. The ends of the Brls are differant,,, the "Quest" types have a "turned" down splined end,,, the "Remington" versions & Seiera versions have a "normal" ended brl. (The G-1 also). Course,,, Ya probly know this!!LOL!! (Seiras come with or without muzzle breaks) Tim.
Yup, I noticed the splines where the front sight would slide onto. The storm that I picked up is pretty much the same as the others; but it does have one major difference. The breech seal isn't an o-ring but rather a rubber spacer. I didn't measure it but it's about the depth of 4 regular o-rings stacked on top of each other. I can see this being an issue if someone is looking for an alternative. One thought I had was to find some good tubing that's roughly the same ID and OD of the breech seal and cut a piece to length; I'm just not too sure what kind of material to use. The stock one is actually very soft. Or one could make a tall spacer so a regular breech seal can fit, but I'm not sure how well that'll hold up in there.
RCnMo 11-14-2008, 03:34 PM The B26 has a very deep breech seal too. I made an aluminum spacer to drop down the 'seal hole' and put a viton o-ring on top. So far, it's working like a charm.
