Why do you have to say sorry? You have been doing that for abut 35 years so that means you earned your respect in that field. Besides, If I'll be building my future house too I'd rather let a friend do it for me whom I share a common interest than a stranger.

In this tough times friends helping friends is the way to survive. Good luck Timbo! :thumb:

I hear ya Tim, feel your pain too.

I'm a plumber, started on my own in the early 90's and had as many as 12 people running trucks for me. Got used to those boom times...didn't save...

Last year when the bottom dropped out, we went down to a 2 person company:(, All the specialty stuff like gas logs and pool heaters we install dried up and of course there were no houses to plumb. It became a "if it aint broke don't fix it mentality". The phones stopped ringing and i and most everyone i know in the trades have had to make some major concessions to the way they live. Funny but the people i know(lots) who work for federal and local government hav'nt felt the pinch a bit. They talk about the threat of layoffs but... we know thats B.S., All i know is that i'm glad to have a job at all.

I just read that the average workweek in the U.S. is at a low not seen since the great depression, 30 hours a week average. I believe thats about the max i've been getting.

I do hope things turn around for you and me and all involved, our country. Got a feeling its going to be a prolonged struggle but at risk of getting political on the forum i'll stop there:D Better times are a coming right??? J

Hey guys, it was bad under Carter but this is worse. I'll avoid the politics and economics and just say this is why I'm headed to SE Alaska. Having been there, I know I can be almost totally self-sufficient hunting, fishing, gathering, and having a garden. Throw in a couple of homemade 1000 watt windmills and some solar panels and I don't even need to tie into the grid, which is almost all hydro there anyway. Many think I'm nuts but I dread what's coming....
