View Full Version : i scored craigfperry 11-05-2008, 06:55 PM i went to buy this gun cabinet for 25 bucks, craigfperry 11-05-2008, 06:57 PM and inside of it was this 2250 so i scored it as well, no pumping for the wife. njphil 11-05-2008, 07:24 PM Some people have all the luck, good for you. Jon 11-05-2008, 07:25 PM Now that's quite a score! Those 2260's are fun rifles. You find it on craigslist? I noticed around here lots of people are selling gun cabinets/racks these days... craigfperry 11-05-2008, 07:42 PM yup, craigslist is where i found it. alway a good deal on there. craigfperry 11-05-2008, 07:49 PM 2260 ok i thought it says 2250 on it. 2250 is the pistola right. Jon 11-05-2008, 08:11 PM Looks like some work may have been done to it. Those are nice rifles - you can do so many mods to them... craigfperry 11-05-2008, 08:15 PM what do you see? hook me up with some mods, she shoots 13.36 grain at 570 so i could use some more power. Jon 11-05-2008, 08:51 PM 570 is actually pretty good. I've read where most with stock 2260's are around the lower 500's. What was the temperature at when you chronied it? It looks like a different bolt, but I can't tell for sure. I do know a simple bolt probe extension usually increases the velocity a little. I'd say the first thing you'll probably want to do is to get a steel breech. Email Alan at AB Airgun: http://www.abairgun.com/ He'll let you know if he has any steel breech kits in stock (they'll run around 40 bucks shipped). He also ships really fast. The other option would be to go directly through Crosman but it takes a few weeks to get stuff from them. The steel breech will allow you to use standard airgun scope mounts to mount a scope and it holds the barrel more securely then that plastic breech. craigfperry 11-05-2008, 08:56 PM yes a steel breech is needed the wife don't like irons. the temp in the shop is around 55 or 60* F. i heard that if you put a weaker spring in the valve this would increase the dose of co2 resulting in speed/power. RCnMo 11-05-2008, 10:08 PM If it's anything like the qb78, you should be able to get 700 or so out of it. Port work, bolt mod, ice maker tubing, heavier hammer spring, lighter valve spring, etc. Good find Craig. craigfperry 11-06-2008, 07:06 AM awesome thanks Ralph, she's in good shape and shoots very well so i think some mods are worth it. Jon 11-06-2008, 07:29 AM When I had my 2250 I wasn't happy with the power - it would only dent a coffee can at 15 yards. I added the transfer port mod (1/4" tubing), opened up the transfer/breech opening to match the tubing and that alone increased velocity enough to go completely through the can. I don't mind co2 guns around 600 fps - it gives me enough power to take down small pests, while at the same time doesn't waste too much co2. I shot one tuned to well over 600 and while it had power, I probably got about 12-15 good shots per powerlet. Plus, it snowed out the barrel every time I fired it... Splash 11-06-2008, 07:35 AM Wish I could run across a sweet deal like that. Cabinet with a free gun, or gun with free cabinet, either way you look at it you did good. RCnMo 11-06-2008, 08:33 AM I have a qb in .177 and got it shooting 830 at 72 degrees. I did notice that it would blow frost on the cooler days and I was only getting about 22 full power shots on two powerlets. I lightened the hammer by turning it in my lathe with a grinder (the piston is hard, it will have to be ground) and pulled some of the shims from the spring. I lost only 15fps and gained about 8 full power shots. I think I found it's power/efficiency spot. I know it will hit higher fps on hot day. Craig, if your 2260 shoots anything like my QB, you're going to love it. One hole accuracy at 20yds, no recoil or hold sensitivity. I'm building a new stock for mine and will post pics when it's done. craigfperry 11-09-2008, 01:47 PM I do know a simple bolt probe extension usually increases the velocity a little. I'm in. RCnMo 11-09-2008, 03:05 PM Matching the port to the barrel to the valve should really help too. |
