Currently I am breaking in my new Quest 1k and am looking for a solid performing pellet. As of right now I am currently shoot at 10 and 15 yards respectively with open sites. Hoping to have a my new scope sometime this week.

I am open to suggestions, I am using what is readily available in town.

The pellets that I have been using are as follows:

Crosman

Pointed Premium .177 4.5mm 7.9g

(decent grouping with some variation but I think that has to do with my holding technique. Seems to shoot at a lower fps, but still dents the crap out of the 16g sheet of metal i have my targets ons :D )

Premier Hollow Point .177 7.9g

(just started shooting these today, better grouping and packs a wallop, increased my distance to about 20 yards will pretty good accuracy, but again with open sights and decent steadiness)

Daisy

Precision Max Flat Nosed .177 4.5mm 7.2 g

(untested at this time)

not sure which Gamo pellet you mean and I'm not sure if anyone sells the Lapuas here.

here's a suggestion that you may want to consider...go to www.straightshooters.com and buy their .177 pellet sample pack which has a handful of about every .177 pellet type and brand sold in the US and try 'em all and then buy the ones that work the best for your gun and shooting style. If you do a lot of shooting, it will save you money and time and pay for itself in no time. They come in labeled plastic boxes with separate compartments for the pellets and you'll get about 40 or 50 kinds. This approach is especially good with a scope. Have fun.

I've found that RWS Superdomes work well in my Storm XT and G1, which should be similar to the Quest. Note that you will need to "seat" these pellets as the skirt has a wider diameter than the breech of the gun. All guns have their own preferences. The sample pack suggestion is a good one.

Can't help you much on this one coz I, too have a limited chances on pellet availability except if I go the internet route. At less than 25 yards I'd go for the CPHP. never disappointed me once gunning down birds and even my first squirrel. It always penetrated the bounty, never ever recovered a single pellet from my shots.

Good luck on your choice SuperBuzz. The pellet pack is sure a nice way to know what your airgun wants to spit. :thumb:

I have a crossman quest and my gun likes the crossman premiers ultra heavy 10.5 gr it also likes a sample pack of 4 different gamo pellets hunters magnum match and master points. At first the quest was all over the place as far as groups but the more i shoot it the better it gets something i learned by coming the this board its turning out to be a good thing i did i was going to give up on now its pretty good. May even spend the money and have it tuned. raw

Just my 2 cents worth. Crosman has a cheap 177 pointed pellet @ 7.5 gr. They got even higher velocities in my HW35 than I expected over the 7.9 gr Premier, with good accuracy also. Possibly because their skirts are slightly smaller in diameter than the higher dollar pellets, causing less friction in the barrel. They just drop in the breech slightly below flush with no need to press fit, as many other pellets require. They shoot as good as the 7.9 gr Premier, in my gun anyway, also giving 50 fps more speed. I get them at Wal-Mart, 300 pellets for $2.83. I just bought 6 tins this morning. At less than half the price of the Premier pellets and shooting just as good, you can't beat that!

you got that right GB, cheap but reliable when needed. I like your analysis about the skirt reducing barrel friction. It will surely help you in the accuracy department. :thumb:

I use the same Crosman Field pellets from wally world in my Daisy (Gamo) 131. IF I can hold the gun right, I can nail birds out to over 40 yds. It's a very accurate pellet, and gives me the most range out of that gun. It clocks a measly 620 fps at the muzzle.
