The same thing happened to me yesterday. I was shooting test shots and all was fine until about shot 12 or so. I pushed the barrel up and when it locked *POW*, right into the ceiling. After that should wouldn't cock anymore (sear wouldn't hold). What turned out to be the problem?

Paul, I think your trying to set it too light, stiffen it back up and It'll be fine.
J, sounds like either the sear rounded off, or the sear spring let go.

Yeah, I have the spring out right now with just the piston and trigger pack installed and am checking the sear enagement. It's barely grabbing. I may have gotten a bad sear with this gun. How hard should the sear spring be pushing up on the sear?

I may have another sear that will work. For now take the sear spring out and bend the long arm about 25deg, in the direction to stiffen it up a bit. That should help, but still hang on to the barrel.

are you sure your piston is not pushed in where the seer grabs.

I'm pretty sure it isn't the piston. I switched out the piston with the G1's, which is squared up good and never had a problem when I was firing that rifle. It shot a few rounds okay, then suddenly had the same problem. I think it's something else. The sear isn't engaging all the way - just the very tip of it is catching, causing it to round off every time...

it could have dented the other piston as well, snap the verns on it be sure their both round.
make sure the end of the compression tube is round up to where the trigger sets.
the seer should enter the compression tube 60 thou or so.

HA HA! I'm not the only idiot to shoot holes in the ceiling. I have two battle scars in my back porch. One went as soon as I closed the barrel on an over lightened trigger and the other was from my QB that I had down to about 3-4 oz and a button on my sleeve caught it. I'm glad nobody got hurt.
