Hi - I'm a friend of TurboConn over in Indiana. I'm looking at getting an air rifle now that I've heard of this site. Looking at Crosman, because I don't know much about these. I was thinking of getting one like I had as a kid (pump it a lot, then shoot BBs or pellets). But it sounds like I ought to get a spring compressed break-barrel.
Anyone know if the Super Streak (link) (http://www.crosman.com/site/listing/1386) is worth it compared to the Storm (link) (http://www.crosman.com/site/listing/1342)? I know one's out of my league, but it sounds too cool to pass up :thumb:.
Of course, I don't want to pay full price, so if someone knows a good source for either of these, or something similar, please reply.
I have a storm I'm doing some work on right now. It's a good shooter like most of the other crosman springers and after a minimum of just a lube tune you'll notice a considerable difference. If you go all the way on a tune it'll definitely be a keeper. I'm not too familiar with the super streak but have heard and read a few reviews on it. Some are good and some not so good - I guess it depends on what you're really looking for in a rifle and what you'll be using it for.
I hear the streak is pretty long for an air rifle and the out of box performance can be spotty like most other chinese made rifles. The storm is easy to cock, not too long, and not super heavy. A simple cleaning and tightening of the hinge area can yield some really nice results (after you've shot a couple dozen rounds to clear all the factory oils).
The Storm, Quest, Phantom and G1 are pretty much the same rifle from Crosman - just different accessories and stocks. Walmart sells the Storm for under 100 bucks and Academy sells the Quest for under 100 bucks. The scope the Storm comes with is good enough to get you started, but you MUST buy replacement scope rings as the ones that come with it won't hold for very long and will probably scratch up your receiver.
I hope this helps a little - hopefully someone with some experience with the streak will chime in. Oh and welcome to the forum!
I'd like to add too that if this is your first adult airgun and you're looking for something you can just open up, clean and take shooting for thousands of rounds without doing any internal work and tuning the gun (not yet at least), I have read in lots of places that the RWS Diana 34 rifles are a really good bang for the buck. Timmy will probably come flying in here in a bit to confirm what I've said about these 34's as he has a few of them himself. They cost more than the Storm but less than the Streak and everyone I've spoken to who have purchased one have nothing but good things to say about its out of box performance. Here's a url to the 34 Panther:

Use a 10% coupon code and the Panther from PA will be around 200 bucks shipped. That's not a bad deal at all.

Yeah Jon,,, Yer right,, I LOVE the Diana breakbrls.!!LOL!! A 34 is however twice the price of a Quest/Storm:? I have been thru MANY crosman/"Remington" break brls.,, kinda hit or miss on accuracy. They can as you said be easily made into nice shooters. A MUST have for them IMO is the GRT 111 trigger,, makes a BIG differance!! At just under $200 though,,, the Diana (RWS) 34 Wood or Synthetic stocked Panther is a tough act to follow for out of the box performance!! Tim.
Or, you could win the giveaway this month and end up with a free fully tuned G1 by Fix! :)
