I have a 3 X9 Sportview airgun scope. It lasted 10 years on my HW 35 until it broke internally. It fogged up and I saw what appeared to be glass particles inside the eye piece. Bushnell wants $ 56 to repair. Is it worth it? I paid $ 80 for it new 10 years ago. The optics were very clear and I had no previous trouble with it. I see very little discussion on these scopes on the forum. Are they junk or what?

GB, for what it's worth having a working scope for 10 years is already such an accomplishment on the product itself! Maybe for sentimental reasons you can let Bushnell repair the old one OR for practical purposes you can just keep the old one and just buy the new models instead.

For one thing, the old model seems to have better optics materials used in them and not plastics (on some models). With scopes, sometimes they are really a hit and miss IMO.

You guys are dead on on that issue.Scopes like the old steel tube weaver's are a nice scope in deed but it take a special group to repair when broken in which they are around. I like Bushnell Scopes myself for what it is worth. I have taken alot of deer witha Bushy- scope on My Excalibur crossbow and other bows through the yrs. I use the top part o reticle post as my 10-15 yard pin, the middle as my 20 -25 pin and the bottom as my 30 to 35 or a wee bit futher for all the max shooting. Of course with a 75 yard range finder for archery. I 've had a dushnell on my Marlin 39A 22 lever for yrs it is a sportview series. It is still in great shape.Get it fixed you won't be sorry unless you want something different.
Thumbs!!!!

An $80 scope 10 years ago is about $200 today using real inflation. I'd get it fixed. These days the Banners and above are the good Bushnells.
