Well, here she is; all scoped and ready to go, in a G1 stock and 14" barrel (shortened from the factory 18.5"). I also added the G1 brake and will start testing her tomorrow to figure out the sweet spot and pellet preference.

i like the way she looks, i'm ready to try it.
do you have to turn into the hulk for a second to cock it?

My Quest is chopped to 10.5" and I don't think it's bad at all. I like the looks of it better and it definitely feels more 'portable'. Choppers look cool. Hell Craig, aren't you like 7' 5" and 260 and wrestle locomotive boilers and eat grizzly bears and stuff like that? Some chopped barrel aint gonna get you down is it? HA.

It's not so bad once you get the leverage down. The G1 brake helps a little, especially with the gripping surface.
The G1 brake helped out a lot. I'm not sure if it's the harmonics, weight or both. I'd eventually like to try a heavier brake.
Here it is at 12 yards. I initially shot 5-10 shot groups to check different pellets. I shot the final 3 pellets that grouped the best, 3 each to confirm. The target's outer circle is 1" and the inner one is 0.5". My rifle is shooting a bit low at this range, but at 20 yards I think it'll be pretty close. I'll be testing out 20 yard shots later today.
Okay, my left arm is throbbing, my ass is numb and my elbows are raw...from shooting that is. I shot for 4 straight hours today, trying to figure this thing out. At 12 yards I can get pellets to touch, but at 20 (haven't tried in between) things start opening up a bit to about 1 inch.
I opened her up earlier and swapped the spring for the one that's in my G1. It surprised me to find that the G1's spring was about 2 inches shorter. It did make cocking the storm much easier and the groups got better. The thing is, now this gun is EXTREMELY hold sensitive. She tends to group best with the stock against the shoulder and a light cheek weld but I can't get it the same every single time so after awhile the groups open up again. I'll mess around with her some more later this week when my glutes are back to normal.
I think the hold sensitivity may be due to the barrel length (perhaps I went too short). If I recall correctly, I believe Timmy mentioned that 14.5" was the ideal length. I'm not sure if it's 14.5 from the breech block opening or 14.5 from where the barrel meets the breech block. In any event, it is shooting much better than I anticipated it would.
I did a little more tweaking last night. I noticed while shooting the rifle that the barrel lockup was very tight; tighter than it was when I first got it. I also noticed the breech seal starting to fray a little at the top so I came up with an idea. Last night I cleaned out the hinge bolt and threads again and re-tightened it with loctite. This time though, I locked the barrel and had it dry that way instead of having it dry in the open position.
I was able to test out a few shots today and the groups have tighted up quite a bit. Tomorrow I'll try it out at 20 yards again. I think when I had the bolt dry with the barrel in the open position the first time, it resulted in a lockup that was too tight and the breech seal was probably pushing against it too much, taking away from the accuracy a little. This time it looks like the hinge should have a more consistent lockup.
