WildBill 03-12-2010, 10:27 PM Hello everyone
What would interest the members here to increase the shooting matches ?
What type of match would you like to shoot !
Maybe we need additional matches ? To keep your shooting skills and interests active !
Please let me know. I'm for everyone here to have a great time shooting !

Speedturtle 03-12-2010, 11:05 PM Make the bulls area bigger, maybe?  Just kidding Uncle Bill. :D
WildBill 03-13-2010, 12:13 AM Maybe we should shoot the target standing no support ?
Or on a rest at 30 yards ??? :D
I just want to see what can help our target match grow !

Personally I enjoy the challenge of the open 5 meter one/ two handed pistol match and the standing 10 meter off hand rifle matches that are offered over at GTA. I don't mind copying their format, maybe with our own twist. In my working days we used to call it "best practices". :thumb:
shoot356 03-13-2010, 04:22 PM Now that the weather is getting better I think there will be more shooters. I can't shoot indoors and I'm not going to freeze my tokus off trying to shoot outside.

TOKUS, your lucky to still have your tokus, I lost mine in a card game 20+ years ago !

Michael90T 04-27-2010, 09:07 AM I plan on shooting in some matches as soon as my project is done(VERY VERY SOON) one thing I would suggest is not to many different matches(like at GTA) it can be confiusing LOL... that being said here is my ideas...
Yards are easier to measure then meters I understand as most of us have tapes or whatever that measure in feet... BUT I see alot of people using the terms kinda as the same.... and they are not even close in size LOL even just at 10 meters there is a 2.81 foot difference between them so to make it easier to be fair we should say 10 meter/11yard match(dont mind giving the couple inches lol) or maybe just giving a raw foot distance couple inches here or there wont matter
Think that maybe once it gets nice out we should jump the bench to 15 meters... looking at alot of the REALLY high scores think it would be good to help make it more challenging!
Should definatly be a springer pumper and pcp catagory just because of recoil though to be honest I think pumpers should be included into the pcp catagory because of the no recoil thing
Should also have a sticky thread at the top with all targets we are using in pdf format..... jpg is ok but pdf will print to scale everytime!! jpg or other pic formats will not print to same scale :)
Rifle
10 meter open (32 feet 10 inches)
15 meter bench (49 feet 2 inches)
25 meter bench (82 feet)
Pistol
5 meter open one hand no scope (16 feet 5 inches)
10 meter open one/two hand no scope (32 feet 10 inches)
15 meter benched scopes allowed (49 feet 2 inches)
Then we can also do some fun challenges like card shooting, paintballs without a miss at xx distance or whatever we can think of on a week or biweekly or just challenge issued basis... cellphone/video cameras and youtube is your friend in these :)
I think the rifle matches will be more popular but I know there are alot of pistols shooters out there so :)
also some prizes lol I know there are alot of people on this forum that seem to be pretty handy at different things... maybe they can step up every now and again to offer services or prizes or whatever.. I know when/if I get all my tooling together I wouldnt mind turning out some muzzle bling or springguide/tophats or whatever on occasion! Of course thats just suggestion and I dont expect nor do I think we should expect anyone to do it but it would add to the fun for those that can!!!

Hello Michael,
I will address each question the best that I can !
These matches are "HONOR" matches, so it's up to each of us to follow the rules the best we can.
The matches here, and at the GTA, are matches wanted by the membership, not the forums ! The forums nor the people running them, do not just make these matches up ! We try to give the members just want they ask for !
If the members would like to increase the distance of the match or matches, all they need to do is ask, and a vote will be taken, the majority rules.
As for the pumpers, it takes a great deal of energy to pump up the rifle, and it must be removed from the shooting rest for every shot. The PCP and CO2's do not. That's why I put them into these classes, for fairness to all.
I have tried to make PDF files for the targets, without success. If you know how, please let me know !!!! It would be greatly appreciated !!!!!
Now these are fun matches !!!! And we have NO control over what anyone does while shooting these matches. I have run NRA matches, and everyone shoots the same supplied targets, at the same distance, at the same time. All targets are scored by range officers.
This being said, I know that having "prises" will encourage some to win at all costs ! A match with 2 or more shooters turning in scores of 200 - 20X, would cause problems, even if fired within all the rules.
Thanks for your input !!!

Michael90T 04-27-2010, 12:04 PM Bill,
Never really thought about the effort in a pumper to be honest its never really bothered me to much LOL but I get what your saying! I would imagine it could get VERY tiring in an open match with a pumper and then having to hold it too :D especially shooting multiple matches lol thats alot of pumping!!!!
Yea I understand these are just honor matches for members by members and not really associated with the forum itself. The distance information was more for unintentional mistakes or misunderstandings. To be honest I didnt give it much thought either on the different between yards and meters till when I was setting up our little backyard range... then it really suprised me how that bit of difference adds up REAL quick  so I figured I would just put in the correct distances in feet (since we all have tapes that measure in feet mostly) when I was suggesting match type we could do... other then that I dont care if its meters or yards we decide on in a match :) just trying to help everyone stay on the same page :thumb:
and I agree on the prizes lol I dont expect anyone to do it! it was just a side thought to answere your questions on how to make it more interesting and I seen that someone offered up a 15 dollar coupon to pyramyd once... that was realy more just a ramble then anything!!
I will see what I can look up for pdf files I THINK there is a few targets thats being used already in PDF somewhere on the webs.... I am positive the one for 10 yard standing is anyways... lemme see what I can do to help with that or find a way to convert the ones we have to PDF
skiball83 04-27-2010, 05:44 PM We could try prone, kneeling, standing. Have a summer only league were we push the yardage out to about 20-25 yards and have various positions. Say a FT style match but use paper targets at closer ranges for those who would have to compete in city environments. There are a lot of good ideas and a lot of good people here. Lets figure it out. Anyone have an idea post it. Remember this is all about fun, and I have to thank everyone that shoots in our weekly competition. Without you guys and the match, I wouldnt have realized how much of a better shooter I could be.
Michael90T 04-28-2010, 07:57 AM sounds good... prone is always fun too!!!!
Skiball think me and you are thinking along the same lines as far as distance goes now its summer its time to push the benched matches out a bit :) I like 10 yards for open matches but from a bench lol gotta push it to atleast 15 yards :)
only thing I am worried about is if we get to MANY different matches.... maybe setup rules and targets for different matches and then vote on a couple each week to see what is going to run that week???
Hell I dunno I just throwing ideas out!!!
Bill I have figured out the PDF thing but I think they are bigger then what I can post normally..... where can I upload the files to so people can get them?? think the normal attachment size allowed is 19k....

shoot356 04-28-2010, 02:23 PM Bill-
Here's you a Gamo5 target in .pdf. If you have adobe reader (free) you can open this file. You will have to change the size (toolbar) to 100% before printing to get the right size target. If you want to make .pdf files without the expensive Adobe software just google for cutewriter. Download the free program and install it. If you don't have Adobe to open the .pdf you can download cutewriter converter, install it and then open the pdf file. Check your PMs for the pdf file. Can't attach it to this post. :(
I vote for another standing unsupported match. They are fun and that's mostly the way you shoot while hunting. Couldn't shoot the last match cause I was out of town. Maybe a lot of others had similar problems.
GamoHunter 04-28-2010, 09:01 PM I'd like standing unsupported but I'm not doing any match shooting until I get my GRT3 trigger.;)
skiball83 04-28-2010, 10:39 PM Hey GamoHunter you dont have to wait to compete. Im running my Big Cat on a stock trigger and a JM 3650 spring and small apex seal. If you figure out the crap factory trigger its not too bad, but then again I have about 5000 rounds on it and its safe to say its "broken in". Its all about the fun of shooting.
GamoHunter 04-28-2010, 10:54 PM Yeah, you're right.I'll give it a try and see what I get.
diarmadhim 04-28-2010, 11:51 PM Bill, I can make pdf's out of all kinds of documents and images. Let me know what you want or email me the source file and I will convert them for you.
