I don't have a bench rest worth the name yet, so I'll let you guys show off until I can join you on these bench rest matches. :D:thumb:;)

Gosh GamoHunter,

I have been using three pieces of 2"X6" scrap, and an old towel when I shot Bench Rest !

I didn't shoot a 200, but it was fun, when I used my QB-78. Using a Springer "sucks", picking up the rifle and cocking it, then trying to find your position again ! That's WORK !

Do you intend on building a rest, or buying one ????

GH, just get any decent small table and put some towels on top. Roll them up til you get the right height and you're good to go. If you're handy with a sewing machine you can make a nice front rifle rest using some old jackets and fill it with cat's litter sand.

I'm going to build one.A nice sturdy table and a couple of sand bags.
As for now,I've got two sawbucks.Maybe I'll place something between these and give it a shot.

Well Bill, I know at 71 I should know better than to get into any precise shooting but what the heck..? What are the rules and what distance are the shots? From a rest I may be fair but off hand....who knows!!? This is new to me.

Hey Chortdraw,

Both of out matches are at 10 Yards ! Easy enough to see where we are shooting .

The rules are pretty simple, Bench Rest: 10 Yards off of a bench or rest , but you will do better off of a rest or table, sitting down of course. you can rest your rifle on anything that you have, make or buy !

Off Hand: 10 Yards shooting you must be standing without support to you or your rifle. A bit harder, but that's the fun !

I hope to see you at one or both of the matches.

Bill I have targets with 1/2 " Red circles on them that I shoot at. Are these OK or do I need a special type target?

Well Chortdraw,

It's better when we all shoot the same targets, but if every scoring line after the 10 ring is 1/4" or 0.25" apart it is the same as the Gamo target.

That is 10 ring 1/2" , 10 ring to 9 ring 1/4" off of the 10 ring, on down to the last ring 1/4".
