I was looking into a scope and liked the looks of the BSA Night Hunter Kit. It is a 3-9x40 scope with a flashlight and laser mounted to it.
A couple of questions, is a laser worth while for an air rifle, and would the scope work for shooting at a max of 50 yards and a minimum of 10?
This would be my first air gun scope so ideas are appreciated.

On a 3-9X scope if your airgun shoots at around 800 - 900FPS you will only need about 1 - 2 mildots of holdover to get to your target so at 9X it is just right. JMO.

How is BSA as a brand name and is the laser/flashlight worthwhile?

BSA scopes are OK, just be sure it's rated for an air rifle, if putting it on a springer. The laser/light combo is not worth it, IMO, the light is only good for about 20'. Take a look at this one.

If the BSA's are only OK, what would a better brand be?

Also look at the Hawk, or Sun Optics.

I have the same scope that Splash is refering to. Ive got about 6000 rounds on it through my Big Cat and its just like the day I bought it. Great scope, I highly recommend it.

How well does the illuminated reticule work?

Works very well. I use the lightest setting on green. Had it for about 4 months or so. There was a little issue with the reticle turning off when I shot it, but all I had to do was take the battery cover off and clean it with my finger. Good as new and still the original battery. They also ship you an extra battery with the scope.

Whatever scope you decide on check out the price on Optics Planet. I've found they undersell most every other place and have free shipping on orders over $30.:thumb:
