How do you figure out the best range at witch to zero a Beman RS-2? I zeroed at 10 yds and the pellet will strike high on the target. It does this up to at least 30 yds. 30 yds is about the longest shot I can take around my place. Any ideas?

The target being at any range past 10 yds. Sorry about the typo.
I zero in at the point the pellet starts to drop...
Shoot at large target...Usely a large bit of cardboard
with a dot on it....Then keep moveing back till I get
a noticable drop in the POI...move in a bit..And thats
where I zero it at...

Usually in the magnum springers if you zero at 30-35 yards your secondary zero will be at about 11-13 yards, meaning the pellet will rise from the muzzle to the line of sight at say 12 yards, rise slowly till it drops into the line of sight again at about 33 yards, and continues to drop from there. I usually zero at 35 yards because between ~12-25 yards the pellet will only be about 1/2" higher than the POA, and at 50 is somewhere around 3-5" low. But the best zero is the one you can predict, center it where you're comfortable with it and practice with it enough to know it. I guess I should have asked what you'd be doing with the gun. Hunting? I sight my hunters in as explained above, but for target shooting dial it in to wherever you're shooting from

Thanks HH. I'm using it to shoot various targets (cans, milk jugs, bottle caps, and the occasional fly) from 5 to 40 yards. Also it is used for pest eradication from 10 to 20 yards. Namely large pests like opossum, rabbit, and similar sized critters.
