Just thought I'd share this url with anyone who hasn't seen it yet. I used to wonder about decibel ratings on springer rifles since they sounded so damn loud from the shooter's pov. At first I thought everyone would hear it as I did. I came across this url and decided to have someone shoot a rifle I thought was very loud (stock Gamo Shadow) while I stood about 20 feet away. It wasn't as loud as I thought it would be (like someone dropping a phone book on the floor).

Although they didn't test out a bunch of rifles, there's enough up there to give you a general idea on what yours may be putting out. Also, something as simple as a lube tune quiets the power plant down tremendously for the shooter since the twang and vibrations should be toned down a bit.

Interesting. I always think mine are loud until I let someone else shoot them. Then they sound like mouse farts.
Here's something for the ones that want to make something scientific out of it.

Indeed it is and will probably be very helpful. Let us know how well it works if you pick one up.

I actually posted awhile back a comparison of decibel ratings (I have a meter) of the gamo whisper on the GTA forum.

I don't go over there anymore so I'll have to find my numbers, once I do I can post it here.
