Heya Ralph! :welcome: Up top in the navigation bar (where all the links are) just click on "User CP." Once you're in there, on the left will be a list of options, one of them being your profile and other other for your avatar. Hope this helps!

Yeah,
I have a pic in my profile. Only 57k and it shows up in my cp but not the thread. I guess I'll be the green blob guy for now.:p

Ralph - the profile pic and the avatar are two different pics. If you look in your user cp again on the left, you should see the Edit Avatar option, or you can just click this: http://airgunone.com/forums/profile.php?do=editavatar

Finally read the instructions. It would help if I weren't computer illiterate. This is why I go through life doing things twice.

LOL No it's not you. It took me a bit to figure out that part as well including some of the others who are on board right now...

Yep, had problems with hat myself. I still can't get my other avatar to work, so I guess I'll just be a laid back cat. At least I have a cold one and the remote though.

Beginning to see more familiar names. I told my neighbor about the site so he may check in..

Looks like an adult forum where every action doesn't result in getting your hand slapped.

I particularly like the machine shop section since that's my primary interest. Just started this hobby so as soon as I get the new lathe up and tweaked I plan to start taking mine apart and reinventing the wheel..

my Griz made noise (straight cut gears will do that) and had vibration in the finish cut pattern.i had to bolt it to the floor.:)
when i did my test bar it was out .004 on 6 inches..altho the spec sheet said .0015....LIARS....BUT..ya gotta love the ability to
tweak these machines.once you get to the adjusting screws you can get it right on.
im used to working on BIG shit.

so hand grinding cutting tools was easy.

now that im doing little crap its a must to have a proper grinder (donated my Dominey Machine And Propeller http://dominey.com/ )

Hey Paul, my ENCO 13x40 has provisions for loosening the headstock and 'moving' it to take out the runout. I assume your's would be near the same as mine. I never had to mess with mine though. It's 4 bolts and probably a rubber mallet to knock that .004 back in line. Or make it worse.....!!!

I like your grinder.

that grinder has a 1 1/2 HP 120 V motor.it weights in @ 90 #.the rock on the left ant cheep @ $220 to replace.
these grinders have a "key" to start them..so the dummies cant fuck the wheels up.

If the ways are level crosswise the taper can be removed with the tailstock set over adj. I haven't run a test bar on my 12 X 36 yet. Will let it rest on it's new home for awhile. It's been bolted to a pallet for a long time and been moved many times so the bed needs to relax.

This is the first gear head that I've owned and was surprised that they recommend 10-30 non detergent oil. I would think a light gear oil would be better, especially on straight cut gears..You have any thoughts on that Paul??

i broke mine in using hydraulic oil.ran it thru all the speeds forward and reverse.drained it and topped it off with 10/30 like the book says.they recommend 10/30 so i'll use it.
