Last night I experimented with the soda bottle plastic. This stuff is super tough, but I guess time will tell. I'm going to test it out in my new Raven and check on it after about a thousand rounds.

As hard as I tried, I couldn't get strips to stick. It mostly had to do with the fact that pressure had to be applied for 15-30 seconds for the glue to adhere and I couldn't get an even bond. Plus, my damn fingers kept getting stuck to the friggin' piston. After an hour of trying various sized strips, I cut out 3 1/4" circles, slightly bent them so they're a little concave, put a drop on each and pressed them on. That worked good and tonight I'll probably sand them and install the piston. I'll post pics a little later...

What did you use for glue?

I used the loctite super glue (non-gel one), after doing a little 400 grit sanding then degreasing...

Let us know how it works out Jon. If you still want to try the strips, a piece of tape should hold it in place, for the glue to set.

I did try that, but this stuff dries pretty quick on contact (almost as quick as krazy glue). I may pick up some slower drying glue (like 1 minute set time) when I get the chance and try using some tape or something. I'll post pics later this evening as well as post updates once I get her all together.

Put the tape on the strip first, then glue it and stick in place.

Jon, check the Grainger online catalog (unless your lucky like me and have a store down the raod a piece)
they have little tubes of loctite that i feel is better then what you get in the store.
i think they run about 3 bucks per tube, they also sell primer and accelerator to help with the install.
if you find something that intrests you my company has an account there i can swing by and grab it and get it out to you.
