reticle fuzzy at high magnification

I am having a little difficulty with my scope at high power. My storm came with a 3-9x30 scope, and I am having trouble seeing the reticle when I have the magnification at anything above 5. My first few shots are OK, but after 10 or so, the reticle is so fuzzy the only way I can continue to shoot is to bring the magnification down to 3x. I am assuming it's my eyes getting tired, but figured I'd ask to see if there was anything I can do or maybe my scope is messed. I have attempted to focus the reticle by adjusting the eyepiece, but the adjustment is all teh way in and it's the best it gets. The target is always 100% in focus.

Not trying to be a smart-aleck here M2B, but have your tried testing another scope? You don't have to install it on your air rifle, just test it at high magnification and see if you have the same issues.

If you do have, probably your eyes have a hard time focusing on nearby objects. I,too have that issue. I think they call it "Presbyopia".

How far is the target? If it's a non ao scope, it may be a parallax issue. I have the scope my quest came with and within 15 yards can only go up to about 4x otherwise it'll be fuzzy like you say, but once I'm at around 20+ yards, I can go full 9x.

....very true, with most non AO scopes you can unscrew the front retainer / protection ring and adjust the second ring for minor AO at a given distance. I've done this to get a scope set to shoot correctly at say..20 yards and be in focus at max magnification, and it may be a little fuzzy at lower mag, adjust the eyepiece to fine tune. It won't ever be completely "fine focused" at all magnification levels, but this is a good compromise.

No offense taken at all. I have not tried another scope. I need to get to my dad's place and try out his Gamo... I just haven't gotten over there yet. I figured it's probably my eyes as I can see the reticle fine for about 10 shots. I figure my eyes just are getting a little strained.

Start by looking through it at something at around 30-50 yards on 9x. If it's clear then just manually adjust the parallax to around the distances you shoot the most.

It just so happens that I have a Crosman Storm with the same scope that you describe. And while it is not the greatest scope it functions well.

May I ask your age? And do you wear glasses? You could be experiencing he same problems that I have due to being near-sighted. I can focus on either the target or the cross-hairs but not both at the same time.
This results some time at peaking over my glasses to shoot .

I have the best results with a scope that has the AO feature.

I am 34 and do wear glasses/contacts. I am indeed nearsighted. I followed the adjustment procedure in the provided links and I've been able to tune the scope so that I can see everything pretty clearly. I have put about 150 pellets through it today so far, and everything is still crystal clear.

AO is for correcting the focus of the object to your x when you move your head so the object stay in the center. If you want to make the x clear then you need to adjust the eyebell of the scope which is where you're peeking at. I find the fast focus eyebell better than the standard one. I have3 scopes with standard eyebell and I ran out of adjustment before I can get a clear X. What I do is compensate by unscrewing the lens retainer to get the added threads to focus and add a one or two big o-ring to keep it tight and watertight.
